Early Palliative Care Interventions Benefit Caregivers Too

A presentation at the 2016 Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium addressed the needs of cancer caregivers. Compared to caregivers for patients with other conditions, cancer caregivers have more duties, spend more time preforming these duties, and report higher levels of stress. However, a new research studies suggests that caregivers whose patients met with palliative care clinicians to discuss symptom management and coping early in their cancer journey reported less depression symptoms over time.
